GENERAL AUDITIONS INFO
NOTE: You must do a general audition AND call-back for Charismatics, Les Belles Bleues and A Cappella Women.
What Mrs. Alderman Needs to Know:
- Which group or groups would you like to audition for.
- Your schedule for next year (to the best of your ability).
- Other activities that you will be a part of during the 2008-2009 school year.
- Your student ID number.
- If you have studied music before (in school or private lessons).
What to expect:
- Only Mrs. Alderman and you will be a part of this first audition. No one else is allowed to view or hear your general audition.
- You will be asked to sing some vocal warm-ups to check range.
- You will need to sing "My Country 'tis of Thee" to show your singing style and ability (please check with Mrs. Alderman or any choir student if you do not know this song).
- You will be asked to sight-read some basic rhythms and melodies.
What to prepare:
- Nothing - you may want to practice "My Country 'tis of Thee" so that you feel comfortable with this song.
What next:
- There is a "Call-Back" or second audition for all the groups listed above. If you are chosen to attend Call-Backs for a group, you MUST attend that Call-Back audition. If you do not, you will not be considered for that group.
CALL-BACK AUDITIONS
A Cappella Women:
- Call-back list will be posted online Tuesday evening after individual auditions are completed, ~8:00 pm.
- You do not need to prepare anything for this call-back audition. You will be asked to learn a short piece at the audition and will be asked to sing in small groups. You MUST learn the part assigned to you, though that might not be the part you sing in choir this year. You might be the only singer on your part, but you will be singing with others. This process tends to be long, please be prepared to stay until 6:00 pm.
Charismatics/Les Belles Bleues:
- Call-back list will be posted online Wednesday evening after ACW Call-Backs ~8:00 pm
- There are two parts to the Charismatics/Les Belles Bleues Call-Back audition. The first part is the interview on Thursday, May 1st after school. If you are called back, you will be assigned an interview time on Thursday. You will need to answer questions that pertain to dedication, group dynamics and teamwork. This interview is VERY important and you will not be considered for the group if you miss this part of the process. If you cannot make your scheduled audition time, it is your responsibility to swap times with another person on the call-back list.
If you still have questions after reading this entire page, please contact Mrs. Alderman by email at talderman@falconchoir.org
